Daily Schedules

The first step is to define daily schedules. Each schedule needs to be defined, configured, and put on-line

Monthly Schedules

The next step is to define monthly schedules. Each schedule needs to be defined, configured, and put on-line. Each day of the month must be assigned a daily schedule, or set to NONE.

Meters

Finally, one must first define, configure, and put on-line one or more meters. Each meter must be assigned a monthly schedule.

Data Processing

Number of Bits parameter of each RUEX counter involved in meter reading must be correctly specified, otherwise dial reading calculations fail the first time the counter rolls over after associated meter is calibrated.

Pulses per Disk Revolution, Wh per Disk Revolution (Kh), and Dial Reading Multiplication Factor meter parameters must be specified correctly for dial reading calculations and downloaded data rescaling to be correct.

The Number of Digits meter parameter must be specified correctly, otherwise dial reading calculations fail the first time meter dial rolls over after the meter is calibrated.

Data Recording

NTMCRDR is enabled on all meters by default. One can disable or re-enable NTMCRDR on any one meter at any time.

To start RURDR data recording on all meters one must:

  1. Define the RUEX domain data recording interval, making certain that the Data Recording Interval Authority on each remote unit is set to Domain.
  2. Enable data recording on all meters.

To (re)start data recording on a single meter one must:

  1. Define the RUEX domain data recording interval, making certain that the Data Recording Interval Authority on each remote unit is set to Domain. This step must be taken only if it was not done when starting data recording on all meters.
  2. Press the Enable Demand Recording button in the meter window.

Data Archiving

One has to periodically archive data and event logs. Both operations are manually initiated by the operator.

Archiving of NTMCRDR files is initiated by executing the MREX Archive NTMCRDR Files command. The accumulating data files get appended to the corresponding archives located in the NTMCRDR archive directory.

MREX relies on RUEX for RURDR, so archiving of those files is initiated by executing the RUEX Archive Data Recording Files command. The accumulating data files get appended to the corresponding archives located in the RURDR archive directory.

Event log archiving is initiated by executing the MREX Archive Log File command. The accumulating event log file gets copied to the NTMC event log archive directory, common to all NTMC components, and reset to empty.

Data recording files and event log file can be periodically archived automatically if so desired. Care must be taken that archive directory is always available and in the same place, otherwise archives are scattered in different locations, and historical searches become inconvenient.

Meter Reading

In addition to the setup discussed in the Database section above, the following must be defined and performed in order for automated meter reading to function on a given day.

In all cases:

  1. MREX must be enabled.
  2. Meters must be enabled.
  3. Meters must be calibrated.
  4. Monthly schedules must be enabled.
  5. Monthly schedules must have properly defined (see below) daily schedule(s) assigned  for that day.
  6. Daily schedules must be enabled.

Latest Dial Reading

  1. Daily schedules Non-billing Read parameters must be enabled.
  2. Daily schedules Non-billing Read Time of Day parameters must be properly defined.

Billing Reads

  1. Daily schedules Billing Read parameters must be enabled.
  2. Daily schedules Billing Read Time of Day parameters must be properly defined.

Meter Data Downloads

In addition to the setup discussed in the Database section above, the following must be defined and performed in order for data downloads to function on a given day.

  1. MREX must be enabled.
  2. Peak Billing Period Start Time of Day and Peak Billing Period End Time of Day must be properly defined.
  3. Meters must be enabled.
  4. Data recording must be enabled on all meters.
  5. Monthly schedules must be enabled.
  6. Monthly schedules must have properly defined (see below) daily schedule(s) assigned  for that day.
  7. Daily schedules must be enabled.
  8. Daily schedules Data Download parameters must be enabled.
  9. Daily schedules Data Download parameters must be properly defined.

Billing Data Exports

To export billing data currently available in the database, without scanning the archives, proceed as follows:

  1. Parameter Billing Archive Scanning must be Disabled.
  2. Export File Directory must be defined - the location specified here receives the exported file.
  3. Execute the Export Billing Data command.

To export billing data currently available in the database, and scan the archives for reading extrema and averages, proceed as follows:

  1. Archive the data by executing the RUEX Archive Data Recording Files.
  2. Make certain that the archives located in the RURDR archive directory remain available for the duration of the billing data export.
  3. Parameter Billing Archive Scanning must be Enabled.
  4. Export File Directory must be defined - the location specified here receives the exported file.
  5. Specify which meters are to be included in the export by defining the Export Meters parameter.
  6. If above parameter is set to By Monthly Schedule, parameter Export Meters On Monthly Schedule must specify the monthly schedule of interest.
  7. Parameter Billing Scan Start Date and Time and Billing Scan End Date and Time must be  properly defined.
  8. Make certain that the value of Data Rec. Interval (Minutes - For Reports) parameter matches that of Data Recording Interval (Minutes) in RUEX. The latter must have been set before data recording was started on all meters.
  9. If any bad data is to be filtered out, parameter Y Axis Filtering must be Enabled, and parameters Y Lowest and Y Highest must be specified.
  10. Execute the Export Billing Data command.
