This page defines basic vocabulary and introduction to SmartMaster system
architecture so discussion about upgrading the various components of the system
can be started.
SmartMaster is a server based system, running services on a server computer
(the server). In
normal circumstances, users will want to install and run user interface components on
other machines (workstation clients) on their local area network, or the internet. From
security standpoint, and for other reasons, this is a preferred configuration.
This is called Client - Server Configuration.
